In the heart of Nagaland, Arambe Jishing was raised by a determined single mother. Unfortunately, his life took a dangerous turn during high school when he started dabbling in drugs and alcohol. His bright future dimmed as he fell into the grips of addiction. Arambe’s once-promising path derailed, leading him away from education to the shadowy world of theft, fights, and even robberies. He became ensnared in the allure of drug trade, funding his reckless lifestyle with profits from smuggling across state lines.
Little did he know that God had a different plan for his life. One day, while smuggling drugs back into Nagaland, he was stopped and arrested by the police. Yet, jail did not stop him from abusing drugs which were readily made available by the prison guards. He had found people around him who shared his interests and that gave him courage to continue. But he soon spiraled into depression.
The prison held a church service every Sunday for the inmates. Arambe began attending the service for a change of scenery. He would often go to the service high on drugs. He expected to feel some sort of peace, but never found any. Until one extraordinary Sunday.
While the pastor was leading worship, he felt a wave of peace wash over him. He fell to his knees in repentance. “I felt peace in my heart; there were no frustrations, no worries,” Arambe said remembering the distinct emotions he felt while leaving the service. From then on, he attended the services regularly, and began praying everyday – specifically to be released. “I knew in my heart that God could do anything.” He promised God to serve him when he left prison. As his prayers increased, his drug abuse decreased.
Weeks blurred until a name echoed through the corridors – Arambe. His prayers had been answered! His release papers had arrived. From being told by his lawyer that no amount of bail could help him to finally having his case dismissed! Arambe couldn’t believe it!
Outside, Arambe joined his sister who was already serving in a ministry. Arambe, once rebellious, now stands as a youth pastor at The Kingdom Church at Dimapur: a testament to remarkable transformation!
