The cameras were rolling, and Shaa Viraj was chasing his dream of becoming an actor.
He had no idea that one accident would change his life—and how he saw himself—forever.
Shaa Viraj once dreamed of being in front of the camera. But in 2012, everything changed. While travelling for a video shoot, his bike was hit by a bus. He survived—but his right arm was left paralyzed. Overnight, his dream felt out of reach. And something deeper took hold—shame.
Shaa began to withdraw. He avoided people, hid his arm, and felt inferior because of his condition. The loneliness grew heavier, and he struggled with destructive habits and repeated thoughts of ending his life.
“I didn’t feel worthy anymore,” he recalls.
In 2015, he heard about Jesus and began attending church. But the pain inside him didn’t disappear overnight, and he soon drifted back into old patterns.
Then in 2018, something shifted.
A Bible verse spoke directly to his heart:
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will do this.” (Psalm 37:5)
For the first time, Shaa chose to trust God with his brokenness.
That decision marked the beginning of real change.
In 2019, he joined Bible College. Step by step, his life began to rebuild. He completed his studies with First Class Honours and started working with young people, sharing his story.
But the biggest transformation was within.
The shame that once defined him no longer has a hold on him.
Today, Shaa lives with peace, confidence, and purpose—no longer hiding, but helping others find hope.
The shame that once made him feel inferior is now part of the story he uses to lift others.
