Breaks-ups can be shattering. Most of us know the heart-wrenching pain of a relationship ending with a significant other, all too well. Pooja Salathia went through a similar gutting experience when the man she loved, Manna, left her and moved to another city.
Pooja, a native of Jammu, moved to Delhi to earn a living. She met Manna and they immediately hit it off! Like most couples newly in love, Pooja was head over heels for Manna and even ignored her friends’ warnings against Manna because of his tainted past. She believed in Manna and was confident that he would remain truthful to her; she was adamant to be with him and continued to plan a future with him.
Pooja’s entire world revolved around Manna so much so that she even decided to change her faith to his just so she could marry him. Then all of a sudden, she realised he didn’t seem to feel the same way anymore. Her suspicions were confirmed when he told her he didn’t want to get married. “I was broken because I had left everything for him, and even changed my faith, and now, he wasn’t ready to marry me!” said Pooja, teary eyed as she recalled the shattering shock she had felt. To make matters worse, she realised she had to endure this gut-wrenching pain alone. She couldn’t share her feelings with her parents, sisters or even friends, since she hadn’t paid any attention to them when they had asked her to be cautious. Left all alone, Pooja dove into God’s word because she didn’t know who else to turn to!
Praying day and night, and reading the Bible whole-heartedly became Pooja’s way of survival, “I decided to submit myself to God completely, and I actually felt He was listening to me every time I prayed.” As her focus shifted from the all-consuming love she had for Manna to the love for her Heavenly Father, Pooja realised how great it was that Manna had moved to Bangalore as it was then she realised how much she needed God. In retrospect, Pooja is amazed at how God had welcomed her with open arms because He knew this was the time for her to come to Him as His daughter. Even though Pooja had accepted Manna’s faith, he left her, but the Lord who she decided to follow for selfish gains never abandoned her!
From an all-time low, Pooja felt elated with God’s love and presence in her life. But God’s love wasn’t limited to this; He spoke into Manna’s heart, as well as Pooja’s family’s hearts. Soon after, Pooja received a call from Manna’s parents saying the marriage would happen shortly. She couldn’t believe it! She had spent so long trying to convince everyone and had never heard from them, and now they were reaching out to her themselves! It was nothing short of a dream coming true for her! “I believe God has a plan for everyone who submits to Him. I tried so much and kept failing; but when I submitted to God and made Him my all, He made my dreams come true.”
