“No matter where our battlefield is, we need only one weapon: prayer.” Anugrah Rai was born in a Christian family, and personally accepted Christ as her savior when she was just twelve years old. Like many of us, she, too, experienced a drastic shift in her life when she accepted Christ. She began looking and dealing with every situation the way she believed God wanted. Anugrah weaved God’s will and direction into each part of her life. Through life’s ups and downs this kept her secure and stable.
Anugrah believed her prayer life was indestructible. “My life was going very smoothly. Despite challenges, I never felt a smidge of regret, instead I was able to focus on the lessons I learnt,” she said. Unfortunately, Anugrah soon faced a series of heartbreaking situations that shook this belief. After getting married and moving in with her in-laws in Delhi, she faced a new life of challenges and busyness. She was committed to putting her family first, above her career. Her mother-in-law’s fight with cancer meant Anugrah was occupied in her care round the clock, “While I knew about my mother-in-law’s condition before the wedding, I never imagined what it would take to deal with such a situation.” Anugrah found herself deviating from her sturdy prayer life.
Anugrah and her husband took great care of their mother’s health till she breathed her last breath. But soon after, Anugrah’s father-in-law began struggling with his health and had to eventually be put on dialysis after his kidney failed. “Financially, emotionally, mentally and physically we were spent. By this time I had reached my breaking point and I was ready to lay down my most powerful and constant weapon: prayer,” she said, reliving the struggle. At this stage, Anugrah began to spiral.
“I no longer felt the peace that previously came from God. I began hearing strange questions enter my mind – Will you still follow the God who made you go through such pain,” she said remembering the awfulness of not feeling His presence. Drowning in such upsetting thoughts and questions, she began to question God and his intentions for her, and wondered where else she could find peace.
But God prevented Anugrah from spiraling further.
One day, Anugrah picked up the mighty weapon and knelt before her Lord. She surrendered herself to God. Over time, she felt her burdens lift and her shoulders rise again. Today, Anugrah spends most of her time praying not only for her own family, but for anyone who needs prayer.
Anugrah volunteered her time and passion to the CBN Prayerline and has spent hours praying for those who are in desperate need of prayer support. You, too, can reach out for prayer support at 9910401010.
