In December 2005, a young couple, Anugraha and Dan Subba tied the knot in a grand ceremony. As soon as the wedding celebrations died down, they began eagerly waiting for the arrival of their first child. But as years passed by, their hopes and dreams started fading away as they were unable to conceive. They were heartbroken.
They prayed, fasted and knelt before God, hoping for a miracle, “We were asking God for his favor in our lives,” Anugraha recalls. And God, in his infinite mercy, spoke to Anugraha through a dream. He showed her the words from Luke 2:6 ‘while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born.’ This gave her the hope she desperately needed. She shared the dream with her husband, and they rejoiced at the thought of God’s promise.
But as time passed, their hope dwindled again. “Waiting for God was excruciating for us,” Anugraha remembers how she couldn’t bear the thought of not having a child of her own. She cried out to God, begging him to grant her heart’s desire. In the midst of her pain and sorrow, she continued to hold onto her faith, trusting that God would come through for her.
After six long months, they finally decided to seek medical help. When the reports came back, they received heartbreaking news. Anugraha’s husband, Dan was declared unfit to father a child, and they were advised to consider adoption. The couple was devastated, and remembered thinking of God’s promise to them. They didn’t give up on God. And God spoke to them through prophetic verses including Isaiah 8:19. They clung to Him even more tightly, hoping that He would perform a miracle.
And a miracle is exactly what they got. God blessed them with not just one, but two children – their firstborn son named Mrinal Jeremy, and a younger daughter named Hannah. They were overjoyed, and thanked God every day for His grace and mercy. Anugraha’s relationship with God grew even stronger, as she saw His hand at work in her life. She knew that with God, all things are possible. She had experienced His love and kindness in a way that she never had before, and it changed her life forever.
As she looks at her children, she is reminded of God’s faithfulness. “At one time my womb was empty and is now filled with the laughter and playfulness of my two children. When I spend time in the presence of God I experience God’s love in my life,” she says, tears rolling down her cheeks. Though her journey had not been easy, it was surely worth it. God had been with her every step of the way, and she was forever grateful. “Our God is the God of the impossible. We just need to put our faith in Him,” the couple said with a big smile!
