Students grow up with high aspirations, determined to make it big in their field. Then reality hits. Stepping into the great big world for the first time is daunting, and the first failure always hits the hardest.
Twinkle, a young woman from Delhi with big dreams about becoming a fashion designer, after completing her studies, ventured out to find her first job. She found one and was ecstatic about landing a job in her chosen field. But soon after, she began to regret every decision leading up to getting this job. Her mind was filled with self-doubt about her decision to becoming a fashion designer, and about joining this company. All because she was being treated poorly by the seniors in the company. The mean behaviour of her colleagues led her into sleepless nights, filled with depression and hopelessness.
“I would wake up at night drowning in depressive thoughts. I would feel as though there was no light at the end of this tunnel, and no future for me,” she said remembering just how low a point it was in her life. Failing as soon as she had taken flight as a young bird, sent her into a dark place. One day, she received a call from her office telling her she was fired because they were dissatisfied with her work. This pushed her further into her dark place, “I had no source of income, and I just felt so alone”.
In these desperate and lonely times, she thought of some of her old friends who had once told her about Jesus and had given her a Bible. She fished out the Bible and opened it up remembering the words that had once touched her heart – ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you’. This immediately gave her hope and the feeling that Jesus is with her. With this renewed hope, she gathered enough courage to begin looking for a new job.
Twinkle received a call for an interview, and was absolutely delighted with the conversation she had with the people in this new company, “They were so friendly! It felt like they were a family, and I could easily speak my mind to them. I immediately felt I would be satisfied and happy working here.” Twinkle joined as a graphic designer and business executive, and was happy with her tasks and work-environment.
“With God everything is possible,” Twinkle says as she realises that the humiliation and hurt of her past experience was no longer bothering her. Today, she is enjoying her job and is growing closer to Jesus with every passing day. She is thankful that she was blessed beyond her expectations! “In the new normal phase, I have become more connected with Christ and I pray with complete faith in His power and love.”
