In the serene hills of Darjeeling, the life of Karma Thami stands as a remarkable testimony of faith and transformation. What began as a season of pain and uncertainty eventually became a powerful story of hope and restoration.
When Karma’s son was born, he suffered from a severe illness that left the family distressed and hopeless. Their only desire was to see the child recover. During this difficult time, Pastor Roshan visited the family and prayed for them. Soon after, Karma’s son began to regain his health. Seeing his child’s recovery strengthened Karma’s faith, and he chose to dedicate his life to God.
However, the decision to follow Christ brought new challenges. His family faced rejection from their community and was forced to leave their home. Despite the hardship, Karma and his family found refuge in the pastor’s house, where they were welcomed with love and care. The support they received from fellow believers deeply touched Karma’s heart and helped him understand the true meaning of God’s love.
Even in times of lack, Karma continued to trust in God’s provision. He recalls one particular evening when the family had very little to eat. Instead of complaining, they chose to spend time in prayer and thanksgiving. That very night, a neighbour arrived unexpectedly with warm food — a reminder that God never forgets His people.
As years passed, Karma’s faith continued to grow stronger. He held onto God’s Word, especially from John 15:19, which says, “I have chosen you out of the world.” These words encouraged him to persevere despite trials and rejection.
In 2017, God opened a new chapter in Karma’s life. He started an iron workshop that became both a source of income and a place of ministry. Many who worked with him came to know Christ, as Karma consistently shared his testimony and prayed for others.
Today, Karma looks back with gratitude, recognizing how God restored everything he once lost. “God lifted me from the ashes and gave me a new beginning,” he says with humility. His journey from suffering to strength reflects the unchanging truth that faith in God can transform even the darkest moments into stories of hope.
